The mausoleum in Great Limber (TA133088) on the Brocklesby estate was designed by James Wyatt, in the late eighteenth century.

It commemorates Sophia, the wife of the first Baron Yarborough, who died aged 33 in 1786. It is described as majestic and 'undoubtedly Wyatt's masterpiece' by Pevsner.

This circular lantern at the centre of the ceiling allows diffused natural light to enter the interior. The glass carries a painting by Francis Eginton.

The mausoleum stands on a low mound and is surrounded by iron railings.

Wyatt completed the building in 1792.

A priory was founded at Limber Magna before 1180 and dissolved in the 15th century.

All that remains of the priory is the old Priest's House with seven-feet thick stone walls.

It has been extended at various times and some of the stone has been faced with brick.

St Peter's has a short, broad tower and a spacious interior with long aisles and nave.

Much of the church is 14th century, including the arcades and chancel arch.

The chancel with its lancet windows is Victorian work by Butterfield, as is the rood screen.
